Comment Post #282734 I recall learning that it is permissible for someone who already made kiddush to make kiddush (and drink the wine) to exempt someone else. I'm not sure if this source permitted it just by day or also for the night kiddush, but in any case I can't seem to find it now.

Comment Post #280934 Your presumption is incorrect. The main thing is to separate it on Purim, not distribute it. See e.g. *Kitzur Shulchan Aruch* 142:3

Answer A: Read the wrong haftara. Now what?
Sha'arei Efraim (9:19) writes that if the error was noticed before the blessings following the haftara were read, the correct haftara should be read at that point, and the blessings should be said after that. If the blessings were already read, then the correct haftara should be read without any bles...

Comment Post #280082 “Merging doesn’t leave a synonym behind”. Is this intentional? Is there no mechanism for synonyms? That would seem to create a lot of extra work to keep the sites clean.

Question Not referring to children by nicknames
I have heard there are some who refrain from referring to their children by nicknames. This was a very long time ago, and I cannot recall the reason nor the source. What could be the reason for this, and is there any source to support it?

Answer A: What are the requirements for the body of water used for tashlich?
It should be a river or well, and it’s better if it contains live fish and it’s outside the city (Mishnah Berurah 583:8).

Comment Post #277011 @msh210 It's not universal amongst *chassidim*. See [here](https://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=42759&pgnum=295) for example, where the *chazzan* says it too.

Answer A: Is there any davening unique to being said when alone?
Many Chassidim (for example, Chabad) have the custom to recite the Zohar portion beginning Kegavna on Friday night before Barchu. When one is praying alone, they say the final part of the portion, which contains the words of Barchu as well the congregation's response. I've heard that the reason is to...

Answer A: What is the status of a-capella music during the three weeks?
Leket Yosher (pg. 106) writes that his teacher (the Terumat Hadeshen) would not say Zemirot during the three weeks, which would indicate that he held that a-capella music is forbidden during this time. Yosef Ometz (A book on customs of Frankfurt am Main) writes (601) that the Zemirot should be sai...
