Welcome to the Judaism community on Codidact!

Will you help us build our community of learners? Drop into our study hall, ask questions, help others with answers to their questions, share a d'var torah if you're so inclined, invite your friends, and join us in building this community together. Not an ask-the-rabbi service, just people at all levels learning together.

Comment Post #281497 Chat is in the plans, but we don't have developer resources to commit to such a big project right now.

Comment Post #277878 @msh210 ... huh, that really should not make a difference. Congrats, I guess - you've found a bug in Sefaria's linker script!

Answer A: Number lists possibly not working correctly?
[status-bydesign] Markdown numbered lists are smart: it doesn't matter what number you put at the start of a line, it always uses the correct number for you anyway - so as long as your line starts with a number and a period, it'll be counted as part of the list. You can see this in action in th...

Answer A: a better Hebrew font for post titles
Fixed! I've applied the same font that's used in post bodies to titles too, both on post pages and in lists.

Comment Post #276450 It should do, @msh210 - I don't know exactly what the rules are for when sites start to get displayed there, but there are certainly others shown and I'm reliably informed that it should work for us too.

Answer A: Sefaria linking is now installed
In more detail: yes, this site now has the Sefaria linker plugin installed. It's a JavaScript plugin, so you need JavaScript enabled for this site for it to work for you. We don't do anything malicious, promise! Each time you load a page, the linker will look for things in posts that look like scr...

Answer A: What should our short description and Q&A description say?
Here's a baseline to start you off. This is what I've put in as a placeholder while we finalise wording: > Our community for anyone practicing, studying, or interested in Judaism and Jewish life.

Comment Post #276391 A word of caution: I'd be wary about adding too many categories. It can have the unintended side-effect of splitting attention and dividing activity, which we've seen elsewhere to some degree. Be sure that a category is the right tool rather than just a tag.

Question Meet the Codidact Team!
As we start on building a new community here together, we're bound to find some sticking points. Those might be bugs, new features you need, things you need support with... whatever they are, the Codidact team is here to support the growth of this site however we can. We'll keep tabs on how things...

Answer A: ISO: hierarchical tags
This is an interesting idea, and we're looking into it. Tag hierarchy isn't something we'd considered when we designed how tags work, but there are some changes to tags needed soon anyway so it may well be possible to add hierarchies at the same time. So... you're right in your observation that it...

Comment Post #276364 Speaking _not_ personally, but as Codidact staff: I'd recommend a more nuanced approach too. Admittedly our experience is somewhat limited, but in what we've done so far I think we've seen the sites that did a more nuanced import do better.
