Nemuel vs Yemuel
I am looking at the geneology of the 12 tribes and I found that Reuvein had son named Palu. Palu had a son named Eli'av and Eli'av had 3 sons, Datan, Aviram and Nemuel (Bamidbar 26:9) וּבְנֵ֣י אֱלִיאָ֔ב נְמוּאֵ֖ל וְדָתָ֣ן וַאֲבִירָ֑ם
Shim'on also had a son named Nemuel (26:12) בְּנֵ֣י שִׁמְעוֹן֮ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָם֒ לִנְמוּאֵ֗ל מִשְׁפַּ֙חַת֙ הַנְּמ֣וּאֵלִ֔י
This is confusing enough but according the list in Bereishit 46:10, the name is Yemuel.
The Chizkuni simply states (via Sefaria) "this person is the same as the one who appears elsewhere..."
Why would the nun become a yod (is that precedented?) and why would this person be called by two different names?
