When to gather the Tzitzis

−0

In most siddurim, in the paragraph before Shema of Ahavah Rabah, before the words וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם it says to gather the Tzitzis and put them in your left hand.

Does that mean to:

A. Pause davening before that Pasuk, gather the Tzitzis, and then continue davening
B. Gather the Tzitzis while saying the Pasuk of וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם
C. Say the Pasuk of וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם and then gather the Tzitzis

B. Gather the Tzitzis while saying the Pasuk of וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם

Why? Because the next words are מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפות הָאָרֶץ "from the four corners of the Earth". We connect "four corners" of this phrase with the "four corners" of the Tzitzis, which are often called אַרְבַּע כַּנְפות from the Pasuk גְּדִלִים, תַּעֲשֶׂה-לָּךְ, עַל-אַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת כְּסוּתְךָ, אֲשֶׁר תְּכַסֶּה-בָּהּ (Devarim 22:12).

So if there isn't enough time to gather all of them during that Pasuk you should pause right after saying it and then finish gathering them?

When I forget (which happens more than it should), I just gather them as soon as I remember. Pausing to do so might be better in some ways, but if you are in a Minyan and falling behind, that doesn't work so well.

I don't understand how your logic supports option B more than A. Indeed it's generally forbidden to do work while saying blessings as it's distracting.

This isn't, in my opinion, "distracting". The Tzitzis need to be gathered around this time in order to be able to kiss them in the last paragraph of Shema. But feel free to write a better answer. I will delete mine if you (or someone else) come up with something better.
