Adam's Age and lifespan

+1
−0

I recall hearing of a medrash which explains that Adam harishon was supposed to live until 1000 years old but he saw that Dovid Hamelech would die as an infant so he "donated" 70 of his years to David, so he died at 930.

But I just read a medrash which says that Adam was created at (approximately) age 20 https://www.sefaria.org/Bereshit_Rabbah.14.7?lang=bi&with=all&lang2=en

So was he supposed to be 1020 when he died (and the 70 years he gave away would have him die at 950) or was his life span going to be 980 years?

Did he look like a 20 year old for 20 years and then start after the first 20 years when he "caught up" to his appearance?
