Why the odd pronunciation of "בני יששכר"?

Rabbi Tz'vi Elimelech Spira of Dynów wrote a book called "בני יששכר" that is popular enough that he himself is sometimes called the "בני יששכר". But the phrase (whether referring to the book or to the man) is generally pronounced with both letters ש: something like /bɨne yisasxar/ rather than like /bɨne yisaxar/, unlike how "יששכר" is usually pronounced. Why?
