Could I keep K for P all year round and not search the next year?
Is searching for/burning chameitz a distinct obligation or just an adjunct – a way to prepare for pesach?
If I kept my house striclty kosher for pesach all year round (not actually that tough as I eat mostly chicken or fish and fresh vegetables and can have matzah for motzi until a month before Pesach, when I start eating meals at other people's houses), or better, if I lived on a deserted island and subsisted on coconuts and fresh fish and have no access to chameitz, would I have to search/burn (or at least search and declare whatever wasn’t found to be hefker?)
I know that the Rambam has as mitzvah #109
To destroy all leaven on Passover. (Exodus 12:15)
But does that mean that by not having any chameitz I am being oveir something, or is that a mitzvah which only exists if there is chameitz to destroy
