How much contact did Avraham and Yitzchak have after the akeidah?

The akeidah was a significant event for both Avraham and Yitzchak.[1] Immediately after they appear to go their separate ways -- Avraham leaves without his son, and we're not told where Yitzchak went. I have heard (unsourced) that Yitzchak went to learn, but where and for how long I don't know. After Sarah's death Avraham arranges a marriage for his son, which could have been done entirely by proxy (he sends Eliezer, who comes back with Rivka, who marries Yitzchak -- but Avraham is not mentioned as being there). The next time Avraham and Yitzchak appear together in the torah text is when Yitzchak and Yishmael come to bury their father.

How much contact did Avraham and Yitzchak have after the akeidah? Did Avraham ever meet Yaakov and Eisav?

I was reminded of this question during Rosh Hashana this year.

  1. Our patriarchs were human, with human vulnerabilities; it seems plausible that there might have been distance between them after that even though they were dedicated to God. I'm not trying to minimize anyone's character, just acknowledge the trial they both went through and how that might affect them. An answer that argues that this concern is misplaced would be welcome. ↩︎

Traumatic? In what way? (and please don't say: oh, how would you feel if your dad c"v tried to slaughter and sacrifice you? Because that minimizes greatly the character and greatness of the two people we're talking about here)

@Harel13‭ taking as given that Yitzchak agreed and supported his father's actions, it's still a harrowing experience, especially if he was 13 rather than 37. Our patriarchs were human, with human vulnerabilities; it seems plausible that there might have been distance between them after that (especially if we follow the opinion that this event caused Sarah's death). I'm not trying to minimize anyone's character, just acknowledge the trial they both went through and how that might affect them.

@Monica I think the end of your comment is still the point of harel’s comment. Unless, you can provide a reason for presuming so besides ‘they were human’. Because they also spoke to God regularly (so do I!).
