The Limits of Hachana

I'm trying to understand the limits of applying the concern of hachana on Shabbos. Here is one hypothetical:

I need to be up and alert right after Shabbos ends, and I know that a cup of coffee kicks in for me an hour after I drink it. So, though I'm not especially thirsty, I drink a cup of coffee 45 minutes before the end of Shabbos. I have done nothing which is forbidden on Shabbos but my actions are specifically for the benefit (impact) which will only exist post Shabbos. Is that hachana?
