Why is a tallit worn at night on Yom Kippur?
A *tallit* is normally worn only during the day, yet there is a custom to also wear it for all services of Yom Kippur including Kol Nidrei. Why?

I've heard that it's because we take the torah scrolls out of the ark at Kol Nidrei, but we also take out scrolls for the evening of Simchat Torah, when a *tallit* is not worn. I've also heard that it's because we recite the 13 Middot of God multiple times at Kol Nidrei, but this is also true of S'lichot which is (first) recited at night. And I've heard one person say he wears it because of the *kittel* that he also wears (per custom), because at death he'll wear both; I've never heard of men who wear a *kittel* at the Pesach *seder* also wearing a *tallit*, but maybe Yom Kippur is different.
