Welcome to the Judaism community on Codidact!

Will you help us build our community of learners? Drop into our study hall, ask questions, help others with answers to their questions, share a d'var torah if you're so inclined, invite your friends, and join us in building this community together. Not an ask-the-rabbi service, just people at all levels learning together.

Sefaria linker doesn't work on comments.

When using the sefaria linker in a comment, as long as you dont press "see the whole thread", the source wont get recognized.

When you do click on that button, it works.

Reproduced: In the comment thread on this post, the reference to Devarim 21:15 does not show as a link when you open the thread on the post page, but if you go to the full thread page it does.

I wonder if the Sefaria linker runs once at page-load time, and because the comment thread is not expanded at that time it doesn't get linked. On the other hand, if you go to the thread page and expand the post using the in-page expander there, it does show the link -- and I tried it in a clean browser where that post wasn't cached. I don't know how to explain that difference, but I'll post it in case it helps anyone else figure out what's going on.

I don't know whether it's practical to re-run the linker when a thread gets expanded.
