  • There were _rishonim_ who held that things other than bread suffice, and they're cited in _Shulchan Aruch_ ([291:5](https://www.sefaria.org.il/Shulchan_Arukh%2C_Orach_Chayim.291.5)), who says that "the ruling is really like the first view that he must eat bread unless he's very sated", and _Rama_ adds "…or he can't eat bread e.g. on _erev Pesach_".
