Can cultivated meat be kosher?

+1
−0

I am wondering what the range of opinions are, and what the key legal points are, on the question of whether cultivated meat can be kosher.

The New York Times (paywalled) just published an article on the subject.

The Orthodox Union, I gather, has endorsed at least one process for factory-grown meat. It met several criteria that were predictable.

On the other hand, one of the things even people like me know is that diverse opinion is a feature of Judaism. There might well be counter-arguments.

Here's a non-paywalled article from Pittsburgh Jewish Chronicle, where I read about this. (I haven't yet compared it to the NYT article.)
