Why the large נ in the thirteen midos?

Exodus 34:7 ("נֹצֵר חֶסֶד לָאֲלָפִים נֹשֵׂא עָוֺן וָפֶשַׁע וְחַטָּאָה") is written in Torah scrolls with a large initial letter nun. My kid wants to know why. (I checked several commentaries and found nothing.)

Importing is a little fragile right now; I have an open request for one-question-at-a-time import (self-serve) but it's not implemented yet. It might be better to do it the old-fashioned way, copying/adapting with attribution. I'm sorry we don't have better import tools; when we did that batch of ~20 here we uncovered some bugs and there's a single point of failure, which isn't great.
