Number lists possibly not working correctly?

I cannot get number lists to work

I press the icon and get a 1. next to which I add copy and hit enter. It does not automatically add a 2. so I hit the icon again and I get another 1. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or is this a bug?

Markdown numbered lists are smart: it doesn't matter what number you put at the start of a line, it always uses the correct number for you anyway - so as long as your line starts with a number and a period, it'll be counted as part of the list.

You can see this in action in the preview as you write - the button will produce a 1 every time, but the list items in the preview will be correctly numbered.
